
Launch box near complete for Australia's largest Tunnel Boring Machines
Assembly of the giant TBM cutterhead for Airport Link's first
Tunnel Boring Machine is progressing at the Kalinga Park work site. The cutterhead (pictured right) measures 12.48 metres in diameter, the largest ever to operate in Australia.
Construction of a 22m deep launch box at Kalinga Park in Toombul is almost complete, ready for the first Tunnel Boring Machine to be launched in the first half of 2010 to carve out the mainline Airport Link tunnel – the longest road tunnel in Australia.
New Gateway Motorway overpass near complete
Work on the Airport Roundabout Upgrade is fast progressing
- the new Gateway Motorway overpass is now in place and final touches are being made to prepare the roadway for traffic.
Traffic will be switched to travel on the new road alignment in April 2010. Finishing work is now in progress including the realignment of approaching roads and connection of the new overpass to the existing Gateway Motorway.
